Come on down to the Ventnor Exchange tomorrow as they celebrate their second Record Store Day event in as many years. Showcasing the Isle of Wight’s thriving local music scene as well as independent music from around the world and the important role record stores play in promoting this music.
Record Store Day came into being in 2007 when over 700 independent stores in the USA came together to celebrate their unique culture. The UK followed suit and 2016 will see the ninth celebration of the UK’s unique independent sector. This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances.
Festivities at Ventnor Exchange will include live performances, DJ’s, talks and our first Big Record Store Day Quiz with lots of great prizes. Don’t miss the chance to wow everyone with your musical knowledge of specialist genres or even Isle of Wight relevant gems of music history. As the Isle of Wight’s only officially registered RSD store we’ll also have a range of those all important limited edition release. This year we will be opening at the earlier time of 9am for all the keen music lovers, so less queuing time! Join us at Ventnor Exchange as we celebrate our second Record Store Day. Showcasing the Isle of Wight’s thriving local music scene as well as independent music from around the world and the important role record stores play in promoting this music.
