Taking place on Friday 15th July to Sunday 17th July, Rhythmtree Festival returns to Three Gates Farm, Shalfleet, for its 7th consecutive year, promising a line-up of over 70 acts on three live stages. With an unsurpassed reputation for bringing together a diverse, rich mix of high quality music and family entertainment, Rhythmtree Festival 2016 will showcase an increasingly diverse range of music with musicians from the Island, the rest of the UK and beyond.
Headlining the Saturday night is the newly confirmed Kanda Bongo Man, performing the East African soukous-style of good-time music. Festival programmer Pete Holden said, “Rhythmtree has developed a really strong reputation for presenting all genres of quality music from around the globe and for us to now be able to attract artistes of the calibre and with the worldwide reputation of Kanda Bongo Man shows how positively our weekend is now regarded”.
He will be joined on the bill by Friday night headliners Plastic Mermiads. The local band are currently flying the flag for the Island by playing gigs and festivals up and down the country and Rhythmtree will mark the first gig for the band in over 12 months.
Completing the headlining acts are Ibibio Sound Machine, who will be bringing the show to a spectacular close on the Sunday night. Since appearing on Later… With Jools Holland in 2014 Ibibio Sound Machine have quickly become one of the most in demand bands around with constant touring and festival appearances. Their performance at Rhythmtree is expected to be one of the highlights of the weekend and one that shouldn’t be missed.
As mentioned at the top of the preview, there’s over 70 acts performing over the weekend, so it’s simply impossible to cover them all now. That being said, make sure you head on over to our dedicated lineup page here to get yourself ready for the event.
Tickets are still on-sale for the event, and they can be purchased here.
